John Winthrop is again elected governor.

May 17, 1637

Winthrop defeats the incumbent, Sir Henry Vane, to restore control of the government to more conservative and orthodox leaders. After some controversy, the election is held in Cambridge. Thomas Dudley is again elected deputy governor. Winthrop is subsequently re-elected governor every year until 1640.
